Fire officials say a raging wildfire near Maple Creek is now under control.

The blaze burned a 16-kilometre swath of farmland north of the town. No injuries were reported but three farm yards, 700 hay bales, and a house all went up in flames.

The flames were fanned by winds reaching 70 kilometres an hour.

Conditions are so dry in the Maple Creek area, forest firefighting crews from Prince Albert have been called in to help monitor the situation.
