The man charged in Regina’s first homicide of the year is going to trial for second-degree murder.

A judge ordered 58-year-old Dale Murray Stonechild of Balcarres to stand trial at the end of a preliminary hearing this week.

Stonechild was charged after the victim, 81-year-old Victor Richard McNab, was found dead in the 1400 block of Rae Street in North Central Regina on Jan. 9.

No date has been set for the trial, which will be heard by a Court of Queen’s Bench judge and jury.
