One man is dead and five people are injured after a two-vehicle crash on Regina’s Ring Road.

Emergency crews were called to the collision in the westbound lanes of Ring Road, south of the McDonald Street exit, just after 4 p.m. Friday.

Police said initial investigation reveals an eastbound car with four occupants crossed the ditch and struck a westbound vehicle head-on.

The westbound vehicle ended up in the ditch. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the westbound vehicle and the four men in the eastbound car were transported to hospital. Their conditions are not yet known.

Traffic was blocked in both directions for several hours. Emergency crews were still on scene late Friday night.

“If there were any witnesses to this accident, we’d like them to come forward. We could have some questions for them to determine what the cause of the accident was,” said Regina police Staff Sgt. Cory Lindskog.

Police said Friday evening they were working to notify the deceased man’s next of kin. His name has not yet been released.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Regina police at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
