Police in Saskatchewan nabbed nearly 400 suspected impaired drivers during a provincewide enforcement blitz in December.

Saskatchewan Government Insurance says officers dealt with 381impaired driving-related offences during the month, resulting in 264 criminal charges and 117 roadside suspensions.

Another 1,847 tickets were issued for speeding, 135 for using a cellphone behind the wheel and 171 for failing to use a seatbelt, car seat or booster seat.

SGI is encouraging motorists to plan a safe ride home with a designated driver or driving service, a friend or family member, a taxi or a bus.
