The Saskatchewan government says it will take action to raise awareness about asbestos in public buildings.

Howard Willems developed a rare form of cancer from inhaling asbestos fibres after working as a building inspector for more than three decades. Willems passed away late last week.

Now, his efforts to create an asbestos registry for public buildings are being recognized, after the province announced Tuesday that it's setting up an asbestos information webpage.

The site will include a list of government buildings with asbestos, as well as tips for managing the carcinogen.

Information about abestos and the registry is available at www.lrws.gov.sk.ca/asbestos.
