The Saskatchewan government has approved a minimum wage hike of 25 cents an hour.

The increase will boost the minimum wage in the province to $9.50 an hour, starting Sept. 1. Meanwhile, the minimum call-out pay will rise to $28.50.

The 2.7 per cent increase is based on an average of the 1.4 per cent increase in the consumer price index and the four per cent increase in the average hourly wage.

Since 2007, Saskatchewan's minimum wage has increased by $1.55 an hour.
