Residents at Pioneer Village and Pioneer Manor in Regina are being told to drink bottled water as crews take care of a leak.

The main water line is leaking and water use is being limited to avoid flooding the basement. The leak was discovered Saturday and confirmed Tuesday.

Officials say there's no health risk to the seniors and long-term care residents who live in the buildings.

Though an alternate line from a nearby fire hydrant has been set up to supply non-potable water, some services like laundry will be done off-site and the number of public washrooms available may be reduced.

The work is expected to be completed sometime Friday. It isn't known how much the repairs will cost, but the health region will foot the bill.
