The widening of a major route in Regina may have been put on hold for now.
According to the Leader-Post, plans to expand sections of Victoria Avenue East have been deferred until the proposed Regina bypass route is finalized.
The widening of Victoria Avenue was meant to ease traffic congestion in the east end during rush hour.
However, with the approval of the south bypass, th4e city will re-evaluate the timing and implementation of the project, and instead concentrate on fixing bridges that span the Pilot Butte Creek at Coleman Crescent
Saskatchewan MP Gerry Ritz and provincial Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris are set to make an announcement regarding the Regina bypass project Monday morning.
That project could take upwards of two years to complete.
