The York University Lions are playing in communities across Saskatchewan to honour alumnus Mark Cross, who was killed in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

The tournament began with a game in Lumsden on Thursday night. The Lions took on the University of Regina Cougars in the first game of the Mark Cross Humboldt Strong Remembrance Tour.

Cross played with the Lions from 2011 to 2016 and graduated with a degree in kinesiology.

Bus crash survivor Kaleb Dahlgren signed with York University in May.

On Friday night, the Lions will play the University of Calgary Dinos in Humboldt. They will wrap up the tournament against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon on Sunday.
