CTV Regina is teaming up with Northgate Mall to collect diapers for Carmichael Outreach during the Bundle of Joy campaign.

The non-profit organization is always in desperate need of diapers, says Carmichael Outreach executive director Cora Dajari.

“Our shelves are empty and we run out every single week,” said Gajari. “It’s always great when someone can donate because they’re really expensive.”

Many single mothers and fathers access the programs at Carmichael Outreach for baby items such as diapers, wipes and formula.

Delores Stevenson is among the moms who utilize the services and programs available at Carmichael Outreach.

“It’s a relief for me because I know that the support is there when I need it and if I need it,” said Stevenson.

“I think everyone runs into those situations and… there’s a place where you can access the support that you need.”

Stevenson is in her first year of studying social work at the First Nations University of Canada. She says it hasn’t always been easy.

“It’s been a little bit difficult being a student to have the finances and everything so it’s been quite a challenge,” she said.

“Just being able to have the opportunity to come here and get that support when I need it is very important.”

CTV Saskatchewan vice-president and general manager David Fisher says he’s delighted to raise awareness for Carmichael Outreach and help bring some attention to the great program in the local community.

“I think our viewers are the most generous out there,” Fisher said.

He added that the campaign also seeks to raise awareness of the donated items that Carmichael Outreach needs most.

Northgate Mall manager Ron Blashill says the mall is excited to host the campaign. An oversized crib has been set up inside the mall, and organizers hope to fill it with diapers.

“Northgate Mall has been around for over 50 years, and we always take great pride in supporting local charities and other organizations,” said Blashill.

Diapers and other baby items can be dropped off in Santa’s sleigh at the Northgate Mall from Dec. 5-16.
