Funding shortage forces cancellation of WE Day Saskatchewan event

The WE Organization has confirmed that there will not be a WE Day event in Saskatchewan in the 2017/2018 school year due to funding challenges.
“As a cornerstone, educational program within the Province of Saskatchewan, the WE Schools Program and WE Day event have been made possible through the support of local and national corporate partners. We have faced some challenges in securing dedicated local funding for the coming year, and as a result will not be hosting WE Day Saskatchewan this upcoming 2017/2018 school year.” The WE Charity Public Relations team said in a statement to CTV News.
Instead of hosting a WE Day event, the organization will host small events throughout the province, including motivational speakers, leadership conferences and celebrations of WE.
“WE remains committed to supporting and implementing the WE Schools Program in Saskatchewan going forward,” the WE Organization told CTV. “We will continue to provide school districts, educators and schools with support through our WE Schools Coordinators and with our WE Schools Kits and resources FREE of charge.”
WE says they will release more information about the upcoming 2017/2018 events as they become available.
