At the end of March Halliburton will be suspending operations at its Regina facility. The company spokesperson, Emily Mir, said in a statement that the company is reducing its size due to the current market environment.

Halliburton moved from Medicine Hat to Regina in 2013. The oil and gas company brought 60 employees from the old location and, at that time, was looking to hire more.

Mir did not say how many employees will lose their jobs in Regina. “We value every employee we have, but unfortunately we are faced with the difficult reality that reductions are necessary to work through this challenging market environment,” she wrote.

No more details were given about the closing of the facility.
