A Saskatchewan-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man wanted for attempted murder after a shooting in east Regina that left another man injured.

Officers found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound after responding to a complaint about a noisy party on Rootman Avenue early Sunday morning. Police say there had apparently been an argument moments earlier.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released.

On Tuesday, police announced that 24-year-old Adam Taniskishayinew from the Punnichy area is wanted on a province-wide warrant in connection with the incident. He faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm and breach of probation.

Taniskishayinew is described as Aboriginal, about five-foot-nine and 160 to 170 pounds with a slim build, short black hair and brown eyes. Police say he also goes by the last name Pratt.

Authorities are advising the public not to approach Taniskishayinew, as he may be armed and is considered violent. Anyone who sees a man matching his description is asked to contact Regina police, the nearest police service or RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
