SaskPower says they are under a tight deadline to recheck and remove 426 meters in Regina by Monday after another fire.

According to the Crown, the most recent fire happened at a meter that had already been inspected.

This is the eighth meter fire in the city since July 16th.

SaskPower says the fires have all been caused by shifting ground due to dry conditions.

Crews have been out inspecting homes in Uplands, Normanview and Glencairn neighbourhoods.

The company estimates there are a total of are 9,000 homes that need to be inspected.

SaskPower says they're also encouraging homeowners to visually inspect their meters themselves - looking for tilted boxes and exposed wires.

Anyone with concerns can contact SaskPower directly.
