Canadian National Railway says its new scheduled train service to potash mines in Saskatchewan is reducing loading and unloading times by 25 per cent.

The company says scheduled trains going between its potash hub in Winnipeg and mines in Saskatchewan have reduced switching and car waiting times at terminals, boosting efficiency.

Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan agrees that the new service is helping with logistics as it continues to grow its business.

The majority of Canadian potash moves by rail to the United States or to ports for overseas export. The railway modeled its potash service after similar scheduled train service for the grain and coal industries.
