More than 4,000 athletes and coaches from across Canada and the U.S. are in Regina for the 2014 North American Indigenous Games.

Athletes paraded around Mosaic Stadium at the opening ceremony for the Games on Sunday.

The opening ceremony featured performances by Juno award-winning country artist Crystal Shawanda and the Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company.

Over the next week, athletes will compete in 14 different events, including archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, canoeing, golf, kayaking, lacrosse, riflery, soccer, softball, volleyball and wrestling.
