One person is dead and another is facing charges after a fatal collision early Saturday morning.

Around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, police were called to the intersection of Albert Street and 25th Avenue. A Dodge Journey travelling north on Albert Street collided with a Kia Spectra stopped at a red light at the intersection, police said in a news release. Police said the Dodge was moving very quickly and did not stop at the intersection, hitting the back of the Kia.

The front seat passenger of the Kia, a woman in her late 20's, was fatally injured and the driver, a man also in his late 20's, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge, Brendan Sugar, is facing multiple charges, including impaired driving causing death and exceeding .08 causing death.

Sugar will make his first court appearance on October 11.
