A senior Regina police officer who allegedly provided surveillance video to a local swim club to help them identify an anonymous tipster is facing disciplinary charges.

In late January, the Public Complaints Commission received allegations of inappropriate conduct against a member of the Regina Police Service.

On Tuesday, police said the officer has been charged under the Police Act with discreditable conduct, neglect of duty and improper disclosure of information.

Police haven't released the name of the officer, but sources have identified him as Insp. Robert Dean.

Earlier this month, CTV News learned that the officer allegedly obtained security camera footage from the Cornwall Centre to help identify the parent of one of the swim club's members.

The parent and her two children were later expelled from the organization after the video revealed she had sent an anonymous fax to the club's auditor.

The officer had been placed on administrative leave earlier this month, pending further investigation into the incident.
