Regina police are asking the public to help identify a suspect in a sexual assault that happened earlier this week.

Officers were called to the 3500 block of Avonhurst Drive around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. A 19-year-old woman reported a man threatened her with a weapon and attempted to sexually assault her. She called for help after seeing two men nearby. The suspect fled as the pair approached.

The suspect is described as a man between 20 and 30 years old with a medium complexion, black hair, thick lips and acne. He has a medium build and is about five-foot-eight or five-foot-nine in height, police said.

He was wearing a checkered coat with a hood, white shoes with white laces, black gloves, and a black scarf or neck warmer.
