Thousands of ladybugs were released in Regina’s Victoria Park on Thursday to help fight the growing number of aphids in the city.

Officials say the ladybugs will help protect trees and plants from the hungry aphids.

One adult ladybug can eat up to 50 aphids a day.

A total of 300,000 ladybugs will be released in Regina. It cost the city $1,500 to bring the red-and-black spotted bugs in from California.
