Regina’s executive committee has unanimously approved an agreement that establishes a budget for building and maintaining a proposed new stadium.

The non-binding memorandum of understanding between the province, the city and the Saskatchewan Roughriders also sets out a partnership framework for future work and agreements, with the goal of opening the new facility at Evraz Place in early 2017.

Under the proposal, city residents would see their property taxes go up by 4.5 per cent over a 10-year period.

City council is scheduled to consider the agreement next week.
