Severe thunderstorm alerts have been issued for much of southern Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada says a weather disturbance from Alberta is expected to move through a hot, humid air mass over southwestern Saskatchewan, triggering thunderstorms Wednesday.

Some of the thunderstorms could become severe in the afternoon, with large hail, heavy rain and strong winds, the agency said.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for the province’s Outlook and Humboldt areas while severe thunderstorm watches were in effect for the Melfort and Regina regions as well as much of southwestern Saskatchewan.
