Severe thunderstorm alerts have been issued for some areas of southeastern and east-central Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada says a low pressure system could cause severe thunderstorms near the Saskatchewan-Manitoba border Thursday afternoon.

The storms could potentially bring large hail and damaging winds as they track east into Manitoba.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were in effect for the Yorkton, Moosomin and Kamsack areas, while watches were in effect for the Estevan and Carlyle areas.

The weather alerts come just a day after strong thunderstorms dropped golf ball-sized hail on parts of southern Saskatchewan.
