Three 12-year-old children are facing arson charges stemming from several fires in Regina.

Police say one of the children, a 12-year-old boy, has been charged in connection with 21 arsons that occurred between February 2 and May 31.

Among the charges is one count of arson with disregard for human life in relation to a May 24 fire at an occupied home in the 1100 block of Rae Street.

A vacant house, a garage, numerous garbage and recycling bins and a fence was among the property that was allegedly set ablaze.

Another 12-year-old boy and a girl of the same age have also been charged after police and fire crews responded to several suspicious fires within a two-hour period Saturday.

The fires damaged a vacant house in the 1400 block of Garnet Street and a fence near an occupied house in the 1400 block of Athol Street. Some grass and garbage was also allegedly set on fire near the Provincial Territorial Building.

Both the boy and the girl who were arrested in connection with those fires have each been charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life and arson causing damage to property.
