Concerns are again being raised about safety around the Regina General Hospital after an employee says he was attacked on his way to work.

Charles Zjoe-Har says he was parked near the corner of 14th Avenue and Winnipeg Street on Tuesday morning when he was approached by two men who threatened to stab him and demanded his wallet.

Zjoe-Har says he used martial arts to fight off the assailants. He says the security risk for those parking near the hospital is a concern.

“I shouldn’t have to fight for my life to go to work and help others,” Zjoe-Har said. “But yesterday, I was in a situation where I could not get out of, and I basically fought for my life.”

A nurse told CTV News she's had people follow her to her car, and she has also been approached for cigarettes and a ride.

Last December, a nurse was attacked and robbed after her shift at the Regina General Hospital.

The nurse was getting into her car when a man grabbed the door, demanded a ride, then punched her and tried to get into the vehicle. The attacker was scared off after the victim began honking the horn as another vehicle drove by.
