A 16-year-old youth has been charged in connection with a fatal collision that happened on Regina’s Ring Road on Friday, March 13. He was the driver of the east-bound vehicle.

Emergency crews were called to the collision in the westbound lanes of Ring Road, south of the McDonald Street exit, just after 4 p.m. Friday.

Police said initial investigation revealed an eastbound car with four occupants crossed the ditch and struck a westbound vehicle head-on.

The westbound vehicle ended up in the ditch. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 16 year-old is facing six charges in connection with this collision. He cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The charges include danerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and criminal negligence causing death.  The youth has been released on an undertaking to appear in Youth Court on April 29, 2015.
