One person is dead and another injured after a collision between a truck and a semi-trailer southeast of Regina.

Police and emergency crews were called after the southbound truck collided with the eastbound semi on a gravel road south of Lajord on Friday evening.

RCMP say the driver and lone occupant of the truck, a 55-year-old man from Riceton, Sask., was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released.

The driver of the semi, a 30-year-old Lajord man, was taken to hospital in Regina with undetermined injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and Mounties say alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
