Ten years have passed since Misha Pavelick’s death and his family is still looking for answers.
Pavelick was stabbed to death at a party near Regina Beach over the May long weekend in 2006. No charges have been laid. He was 19 years old.
“We understand the depth of grief and sorrow because we are still experiencing it,” the teen’s family said in a statement. “We remember and miss Misha daily. He was a loving and caring son, brother, nephew and cousin. He had many cherished friends,” they said.
Pavelick was one of almost 200 people at a party for Miller High School grads. In an investigational update in 2009, police said they had conducted 125 formal interviews. Since then, many have been re-interviewed and the investigation is on-going.
“Ten years is a significant amount of time. Lives and people change. One thing that has not wavered is our dedication to solving Misha’s murder,” Sgt. Rob Zenter of the RCMP Historical Case Unit South said in a release.
“Many things happen in 10 years. People change, thinking and beliefs evolve and unhealthy allegiances end. It’s time for you to step up. We urge you to help identify the person or persons responsible for. It’s possible to do the right thing, if not for Misha, then for yourself and your future,” the family’s release said. They’re sending out a plea in hopes that Pavelick’s murder may one day be solved.
