RCMP responded to 18 calls for service, including three assaults, during the first day of Country Thunder in Craven.

One of the assaults resulted in charges. Mounties also made arrests for disturbing the peace, mischief and public intoxication. Five prisoners were held in custody.

Police pulled over 169 vehicles during a 24-hour period between Thursday and Friday. Officers issued one roadside suspension and two tickets for driving while suspended. Police also handed out 11 speeding tickets.

The country music festival is expected to draw 20,000 people to Craven this weekend.
