Red Cross helps over 30 people displaced by Regina apartment fire

The Canadian Red Cross has helped over 30 people displaced by a fire that destroyed an apartment building in Regina, and the group says it expects more calls for assistance.

Officials say the fire that engulfed the 23-unit apartment complex Friday started in the kitchen of one of the suites. Two people had to be rescued from the burning building.

The Red Cross is helping those affected by providing food, clothing and shelter for the first 72 hours.

A security fence has been erected around the scene to keep people away from the unstable remains of the building. The investigation into the fire is expected to begin later this week.
