A new public elementary school has officially opened in Regina’s Greens on Gardiner neighbourhood.
École Wascana Plains School can accommodate up to 650 students and offers dual-track programs, meaning that students can choose to be part of the French immersion or English program.
Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky attended the school’s grand opening Wednesday on behalf of Education Minister Bronwyn Eyre.
“It’s wonderful to be able to help welcome the staff and students to this new school,” Makowsky said in a news release.
“I’d like to thank the staff, board and school community council members at Regina Public Schools for making sure that this school meets the needs of the students and community.”
The joint-use facilty also contains École St. Elizabeth Catholic School.
“The staff of École Wascana Plains is very excited to be working in this modern learning environment and can’t wait to welcome the school community of students and their families,” said École Wascana Plains principal Jeannette Revet.
The facility is one of 18 joint-use schools being built through public-private partnership in Regina, Saskatoon, Martensville and Warman. Each joint-use school also contains a 90-space child-care centre, as well as community space.
