Saskatchewan’s free fishing weekend is taking to the ice for the first time.

The government says everyone, including visitors from outside the province, will be allowed to fish on Family Day weekend without having to buy a licence.

Fishing regulations, including possession limits and reduced limits on some lakes and rivers, will remain in effect for the free fishing weekend, which runs from Feb. 14 through 16.

The free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks, and anyone planning to take fish out of the province must purchase a licence.
