Twelve years have passed since Tamra Keepness disappeared from her home in the 1800 Block of Ottawa Street.

On Tuesday, family and friends gathered at the Core Community Park to mark the sombre anniversary of Keepness’ disappearance.

Keepness’ sister, Summer Favel, was only 10 years old when Keepness went missing.

“It really impacted my life,” Favel said.

Now, she remembers a sister she wasn’t able to see grow up.

“I remember that she was brave. And that she was smart, really smart,” Favel said.

The annual barbecue serves as a reminder that the case is far from closed.

“For the Regina Police Service, this is likely the largest investigation that we undertook,” acting Police Chief Dean Rae said Tuesday. “As a result of that, it’s important to maintain profile to this investigation and to the plight of missing people.”

Police offered a $25,000 reward when Keepness first disappeared. That amount was doubled in June 2014.

“We believe there’s people in our community that have information that could help resolve this case,” Rae added.

Amid the mystery surrounding Keepness’ disappearance, Favel has one hope for her sister.

“I just want her to come home,” she said.
