RCMP say a conservation officer was struck by an ATV and dragged a short distance Saturday afternoon in an eastern Saskatchewan provincial park.

Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management officers were attempting to stop the all-terrain vehicle in Duck Mountain Provincial Park when the driver and one passenger fled.

The occupants were later located in the park. The two SERM officers then attempted to stop the vehicle on foot when one officer was struck and pulled a short distance.

The officer who was hit was treated for minor injuries and later released from the hospital. The second officer avoided injury.

The male driver has since been charged with four driving offences and one count of assaulting a peace officer.
