Precautionary measures were taken at Regina’s Pasqua Hospital after a patient showed up with flu-like symptoms similar to those associated with Ebola.

Health officials have since confirmed that it was actually a case of the flu, not the deadly Ebola virus.

A spokesperson for the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region says a patient arrived in the emergency room with severe flu-like symptoms Tuesday night.

The health region says language problems made it difficult to communicate with the person about their travel history.

The patient was put into isolation in the ER, in accordance with the health region’s Ebola protocol. Regina police were on scene to keep the peace as part of the protocol.

The hospital returned to normal operations after about three hours.
