The family of Nadine Machiskinic, 29, is asking more questions after a conflict was found between an early report, and the final report, released in June regarding the young mother’s death.

Machiskinic was found dead in January of 2015 at the bottom of a laundry shoot at Regina’s Delta Hotel.

The final coroner’s report released in June, 2016 concluded that Machiskinic's death was accidental, but her family still has questions, and a document to support them.

Machiskinic's aunt says the family accidentally received an alternate autopsy report early in the death investigation. It concluded Machiskinic's death should be listed as undetermined.

“The original report stated that she would have been incapable of climing into the laundry chute on her own.” Delores Stevenson, a family member of Machiskinic’s told CTV News.

The coroner's office declined and interview with CTV but provided this statement:

“In this case, the original autopsy report was completed, but the forensic pathologist and chief coroner felt that an additional opinion on the toxicology results may be helpful. That opinion was obtained from a toxicologist in Alberta. The forensic pathologist revised the autopsy report based on the additional expertise.”

The statement continues, saying:

“Determining the manner of death is the responsibility of the coroner, not the pathologist. Although important, an autopsy is but one part of the investigation that informs the coroner's findings, which includes the cause of death and manner of death.”

But the family wants to know why all of the available information wasn't included in the final report.

“I think the public has a right to know everything that’s going on with this case,” Stevenson said. “I feel that this information would not have been released to anybody, including myself, had it not accidentally gotten into my hands.”

It’s unclear if the case will be re-opened.
