A 32-year-old Regina man accused of abducting his daughter, prompting an Amber Alert, made a brief court appearance Friday.

In addition to abduction, Anthony Slippery is charged with assault, uttering death threats, dangerous driving, evading police and breach of recognizance.

His case was adjourned to next week to allow him to hire a lawyer.

Slippery's name was plastered all over digital billboards and social media sites Thursday, after he allegedly abducted his four-year-old daughter.

Police found the girl a few hours after the Amber Alert had been issued, and Slippery was arrested a short time later.

Several family members were at the courthouse Friday morning. They say they knew a bitter custody battle was going on, but were shocked that it had escalated so fast.
