Potash giant Mosaic Co. says it is laying off 51 workers across Saskatchewan, citing market conditions.
The layoffs affect a variety of positions at Mosaic's mines in Belle Plaine, Colonsay and Esterhazy, as well as the company’s office in Regina.
Mosaic spokesperson Sarah Fedorchuk says the company is cutting just under two per cent of its workforce in the province.
“It was a very difficult decision,” Fedorchuk said. “But with current market conditions being what they are, we want to remain competitive so we can continue to invest in the province.”
Employees were given layoff notices Monday.
