A traffic stop in Richmound, Sask. resulted in five arrests and the seizure of more than 400 marijuana plants.

On the evening of July 3, 2015 a man and a woman were pulled over at a traffic stop. Police found and removed a significant amount of cannabis marijuana from the vehicle.

Both the man and the woman were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis marijuana.

As a result of the traffic stop incident, a search warrant was issued in the early morning hours of July 4. RCMP searched a home in Richmound and found, what they describe as a “large, sophisticated grow operation.”

Approximately 433 marijuana plants were seized by RCMP. The street value of those plants is more than $430,000.

As a result of that search three people were charged with offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act including the production of cannabis marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis marijuana.
