RCMP in Saskatchewan have unveiled a new tactical armoured vehicle designed to help keep officers safe in situations such as hostage takings and armed standoffs.

The vehicle features advanced ballistic and explosive protection, a 360-degree observation tower and adjustable suspension for driving on rugged off-road terrain.

Mounties in Saskatchewan received two of the 18 tactical armoured vehicles that were purchased through a $14 million contract with Navistar Defence Canada.

One of the new special vehicles will be based in Regina and the other in Prince Albert.
