The RCMP is turning to social media in an attempt to locate missing aboriginal women and girls. For 10 days in October, Mounties will be sharing information about cases of missing women on Facebook and Twitter in hopes of generating new information.

Patricia Favel is one of those women. She was last seen in downtown Regina in 1984. She was only 18 when she vanished. RCMP tweeted a link to her missing person’s file on Wednesday.

“This initiative is an opportunity for communities across the country to be involved by sharing information that may generate tips for the investigating officers,” Police said in a written release, “With the public's help we hope to bring these women and girls home.”

You can find out more about the missing women by following the RCMP on Twitter, or by liking their Facebook page. You can also visit canadamissing.ca to find out how to submit a tip in one of the cases.

The campaign runs until Oct. 14.
