Charges have been laid in a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a 27-year-old Regina man last October.

Rafiqul Islam died after being struck by an SUV that ran a red light at the intersection of Albert Street and Saskatchewan Drive on Oct. 4.

Police say Islam and another pedestrian were using a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

The SUV fled the scene after the crash and police later located the vehicle.

On Thursday, police arrested a 29-year-old Regina man in connection with the incident.

Aaron John Bloch faces charges of dangerous driving causing death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Bloch was released from custody Thursday and is scheduled to make his first court appearance April 28.
