The City of Regina has confirmed that the University of Regina Rams will be the first to test out the new Mosaic Stadium.

The stadium is expected to be completed on Aug. 31, and the Rams will host the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in a CIS football game on Oct. 1.

“This test game has been speculated about for quite some time and I’m very pleased to make this official. This will give us our first chance at making sure that we all have the fantastic experience we envisioned when new Mosaic Stadium officially opens next year,” said Mayor Michael Fougere in a written release.

Tickets for the Oct. 1 game will go on sale on Tuesday at 10 a.m. through the Regina Rams website, the Rams administration office, through the Saskatchewan Roughriders website, or at the Riders box office. General public tickets will go on sale July 26.

The Rams/Huskies game is the first of three tests that will take place before the stadium’s grand opening in the summer of 2017.
