A 21-year-old Regina woman has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing that left a 49-year-old woman seriously injured last week.

On Wednesday night, police responded the 2900 block of 13th Avenue after receiving a report that a woman had been stabbed. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation led officers to a disturbance in the 2000 block of Robinson Street, where they took a suspect into custody.

Police say the suspect was heavily intoxicated, possibly from a variety of substances, and was taken to hospital for assessment.

Colleen Dawn Piapot of Regina was scheduled to make her first court appearance on a charge of attempted murder Monday morning.
