The CFL draft got off to an unusual start Tuesday, with the Ottawa RedBlacks trading their first overall pick to the Calgary Stampeders before the official draft even began.

That left the Stamps to select offensive lineman Pierre Lavertu first overall.

The Roughriders, who held the eighth overall pick in the first round, opted to trade their first-round pick to Hamilton for two second-round picks.

The Riders made their first selection in the second round, 11th overall, selecting University of Western Ontario defensive end Dylan Ainsworth.

Saskatchewan also traded their No. 17 pick to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the 20th and 26th selections.
