Nearly 20,000 more people rode Saskatchewan Transportation Company buses last year compared to 2010.

Revenues also increased by half a million dollars to $16.7 million, the Crown corporation said in its annual report Wednesday. STC used $8.7 million of its $8.9-million provincial operating grant for the year.

Company CEO Shawn Grice attributed the seven per cent ridership increase to the addition of on-board amenities such as wireless Internet.

On April 1, STC increased its fares by nearly five per cent to offset rising operating costs.
