Officials say no one was hurt after a tree fire spread to a nearby home and vehicle in Regina.

The fire started in a row of trees near a home in the 1200 block of McTavish Street shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The flames quickly spread to the roof of the home, as well as a car in the neighbouring driveway.

Two people escaped from the home uninjured. Crews had the fire under control within 45 minutes.

Investigators suspect the fire was sparked by improperly discarded smoking materials.
