A former University of Regina professor and prominent Regina resident celebrated a milestone Sunday.
Jack Boan celebrated his 95th birthday surrounded by friends and community members including Ralph Goodale and Vianne Timmons. Part of the party included reading letters and cards he received from across the country, including cards from Brad Wall, and the Prime Minister.
Boan first moved from Ottawa to Regina in 1962 to teach economics at the University of Saskatchewan campus in the Queen City. He retired from the University of Regina in 1983.
Teaching future generations isn’t the only way Boan’s contributed to Saskatchewan. He has made contributions to the United way, the Regina Early Learning Centre, and is a strong supporter of refugee education.
Despite the number of candles on the cake, Boan plans to continue as an active member of the Regina community.
