A 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman face charges in the alleged neglect of two young Regina sisters.

Kevin Eric Goforth and Tammy Lynn Goforth, both of Regina, are charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm. The couple is identified as caregivers to the children. Police say they are not the biological parents.

The charges arise from an incident in which a four-year-old girl was taken to Regina hospital in an “unresponsive” state Wednesday. She was later revived and remains in hospital in critical condition.

An investigation led police to a two-year-old girl at a north Regina home. She was also taken to hospital. Police allege the girls are victims of abuse and neglect.

The couple makes their first appearance in Regina provincial court Thursday morning.
