Regina city council was split down the middle on a new fire safety bylaw at the city council meeting on Monday night.

If approved, the bylaw change would require landlords to check smoke alarms every 30 days instead of every six months.

There were more questions and concerns brought forward by local landlords and council during the meeting.

The bylaw will be discussed more in July.
